COUNTY'S TOP LIBERAL
PRAISES VAN TRAN

UCI's Petracca, OC's leading Left-wing voice, extols Tran's candidacy

(Costa Mesa, CA) - In today's Los Angeles Times, liberal pundit and UCI professor Mark Petracca praised Van Tran's candidacy as an "historic" opportunity for voters. Petracca, who is a fixture on local radio and television as a reliable left-wing counterpoint during Orange County issue forums, joins a long list of liberal, labor union, and big-government factions promoting Tran's candidacy for State Assembly from the 68th district in central Orange County.

Van Tran is running in next Tuesday's primary election against the more conservative Mark Leyes for the Republican nomination. In Sunday's edition of the Orange County Register (a much more reliably conservative voice than the LA Times) Leyes was described as the "Conservative's choice" and Tran as a "Republican in name only,"

Professor Petracca is quoted in the Los Angeles Times trying to seduce Republican voters into supporting local criminal defense lawyer Van Tran because of the novelty of electing what would be the "highest-ranking" elected official in the nation of Vietnamese descent. Under heavy questioning, Petracca conceded that Tran's campaign has a "kindergarten quality."

The Times article goes on to point out that Mark Leyes supports Governor Schwarzenegger's economic recovery plan while Tran opposes Schwarzenegger and backs ultraliberal Democrat State Treasurer Phil Angelides' position.

The Times article continues by citing statements by Anaheim Mayor and former 68th district Assemblyman Curt Pringle that "Leyes is more conservative than Tran" and that "Leyes is the candidate that he trusts."

Not mentioned in the article is that the Tran for Assembly campaign is being investigated by the California Attorney General for mishandling of absentee ballots in violation of state Elections Code. The possible Voter Fraud was described in the February 21 and February 25 editions of the Los Angeles Times' Daily Pilot newspaper.

Former State Assemblyman Jim Morrissey has also filed a complaint with the U.S. Attorney due to the fact that federal elections are also potentially at risk of Voter Fraud in the inappropriate collection and handling of absentee ballots.
